Inner Peace

Welcome to November! Things are about to get crazy and hectic, so let’s talk about ways you can find and keep your inner peace.

Get right into it. This is my take on Mandy Kloppers suggestions.

  1. Deep breathing. When you are feeling overwhelmed, breathe. Breath in through your nose for 3 seconds, out your mouth for 6 seconds. Do this for like 5 minutes while you lower your heart rate and reflect.
  2. Listen to music. Whatever your favorite music is. Listening to music helps me to focus, and I’m sure lots of other people too. It also helps release feel good endorphins in your brain!
  3. Go for a walk. Get fresh air. Go for a walk while you listen to your favorite music while deep breathing. 3 in 1.
  4. Enjoy nature. Like actual nature. If you live in the city, it’s beautiful I love city living but you have to get out sometimes.
  5. Play with a pet. It doesn’t even have to be yours. But obviously get permission.
  6. Clean something. Do the dishes. Make your bed. Clean out your car. Make your space something you’re proud of. Speaking of which have I decorated for the holidays yet?
  7. Accept the things you can not change and other things Niebuhr said.
  8. Practice mindfulnesssss. We have an episode on that from September!
  9. Love yourself. Even your flaws
  10. Stay true to yourself and what matters to you. Act in a way that makes you proud of yourself.
  11. Have a sense of humor. Dark humor is my personal therapy.
  12. Love without expecting anything in return.
  13. Go. To. The. Doctor. I know in the US that’s not something anybody wants to hear, but you need to.
  14. Evaluate where you are in life right now, check in with yourself.
  15. Set goals.
  16. Don’t take yourself, or life, too seriously. Have fun. Laugh. Be flexible.
  17. Live right now. Not for the future. Not in the past. Just now. Things can change in an instant, and most of the time you won’t see it coming.
  18. Don’t worry. So much. Again, focus on only what you can control.
  19. Be assertive. Say no when you want to say no. Say yes when you want to say yes. This doesn’t mean be an asshole, but don’t sacrifice yourself for someone else.
  20. Speak up. Ask for what you want in life.
  21. Take some time for yourself.
  22. Be fun in places where you don’t have a lot of fun.
  23. Let. Things. Go. Someone fuck you up? Let it go. Don’t forgive, don’t forget. Place it on a shelf. Don’t look at the shelf.
  24. Resist feeling guilty.
  25. Be grateful.
  26. Embrace failure. Learn from it.
  27. Network.
  28. Go all out. See where your plateau is.
  29. Find positive outlets for negative emotions and thoughts.
  30. Slow the fuck down.
  31. Replace should with could.
  32. Be nice.
  33. Stop comparing yourself to others.
  34. Tell yourself 5 reasons you’re amazing every single morning.
  35. Save $5 a week.
  36. Stay simple. Declutter. Yard sale.
  37. Switch up your perspective. Look at other people in similar situations as you and talk with them on how they are handling things.
  38. Pay attention to your thoughts, and be sure to address the negative ones.
  39. Stand up for yourself, for others, for anything that you’re passionate about.
  40. Lastly, sleep. Sleep in. Sleep earlier. Sleep longer. Sleep more intently.

What’s your favorite tip on this list and which one will you try this month?
